March 27, 2020 Dr. John F. Dolan has a special message for the St. Mary's community. FIFTH WEEK OF LENT
This week's Lenten Reflection is by St. Mary's Associate Head of School, David Angeramo.
--------------------------------------------
Lent is a time for all of us to take a step back and re-examine our faith. It is a period for reflection and repentance, as we prepare for Holy Week and the death and resurrection of Jesus. Our faith journeys are personal and are different for each one of us. I encourage everyone to take some quiet time alone and reflect on your life, your relationships, and what you are doing to be the best version of yourself.
A few months ago, none of us would have imagined that we would be living through a once in a lifetime worldwide pandemic. These historical times have brought on tremendous stress caused by changing health and financial situations, as well as isolationism and the uncertainty of what the future holds. Fear, anxiety, frustration, confusion – these and many other emotions have come upon us. Now, more than ever, is a time when we must be true to our faith and focus on hope.
Be deliberate and think about and pray for those in need who are less fortunate than you. This situation will get better and our thoughts and actions can help make that happen sooner. What can you be doing to assist and support those around you while following social distancing and health protocols? Ask an elderly neighbor if there is anything you can help with as they remain housebound. Tell a loved one or close friend how much you appreciate them. Reach out to someone you have lost touch with and reconnect. Simple actions can make a big difference, especially in times like these.
Once again, I feel so fortunate to be a part of the St. Mary's community. Please know that you and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers now and always. We wish you all good health and well-being and we look forward to coming together again in the near future.
