This week, we recognize the website Khan Academy for its vast resources on nearly every subject. Khan Academy has resources for various subjects in math, science & engineering, computing, arts & humanities, economics & finance, test prep for the SAT, LSAT, etc., and advice and strategies for college, careers & more. Khan Academy covers information applicable to grades kindergarten through high school. Whether a student is falling behind in a subject, needs extra help understanding a particular concept, or wants to prepare for their future, Khan Academy is there to help. Their mission is “to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere.” and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Whether students learn best by watching videos, reading descriptions, or doing practice problems, Khan Academy has the resources to help. Dorothy Carroll, a senior at St. Mary’s high school said, “I use Khan Academy to review for my AP Calculus tests and to do practice problems. I also used Khan Academy to study for the SAT and learn important test taking techniques which helped me to improve my scores greatly.” Teachers, encourage your students to navigate the Khan Academy website as a study resource for before a test or for any student who is may need extra help. Students, Khan Academy is a great resource and can help you in a number of ways, and best of all, its free!
